Lori Nelson M.A.
I was inspired by bodywork in 1996, when I received my first series of Hellerwork Structural Integration. Trained as a gymnast when I was child, an athlete as a teen and landing in a desk job working long hours as a young adult, I was beginning to suffer daily aches and pains by my early 20’s. However, perhaps one of my greatest challenges at this time was acceptance of my body and feeling comfortable in it. My experiences with Hellerwork, yoga and the other body oriented modalities that I have been exposed to in the last decade have allowed me to live with more ease, balance and peace than I could have imagined possible at one time.
As a result of my positive experiences, I felt inspired to learn how to help others live with more ease and balance in their bodies. In 1996, I left a successful advertising career to complete my primary training in Hellerwork Structural Integration. Since this time, I have continued to increase my skills through attendance in continuing education classes related to Structural Integration and other healing modalities. I have been a student of yoga since 1994 and completed yoga teacher training with Ana Forrest in 2001. I began studying Craniosacral Therapy in 2001 with the Upledger Institute and completed advanced Craniosacral Therapy training with Ursula Popp in 2003. I received a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University in 2009 with the intention of incorporating body centered and other forms of psychotherapy into my practice. I am currently honing these skills in practice and with ongoing training and supervision.
I bring awareness of structure, alignment, psychology, movement education and presence of spirit to my practice. Whether I am assisting a client to heal from a physical injury, helping another to unwind years of stored tension or assisting an individual suffering from emotional challenges, it is my intention to help each of my clients lead more whole, balanced and healthy lives.
